Capybazar

Grow it, serve it, build the cutest fair!

A capybara, a sunny lagoon and a fair that is still just a few empty squares on the grass. Capybazar is a free, relaxing management game that runs in your browser, on a computer or a phone, with no download and no sign-up. You pick the crops, carry them to the stalls, serve the animals that come to shop and use the coins to build a bigger and bigger fair. There is no game over, so you can take it at your own pace.

How to play

  1. Press Play and choose the Lagoon Fair. A few short tips show you what to do first.
  2. Walk your capybara onto a ripe crop plot. She picks the items automatically, and they pile up on her back.
  3. Walk to a stall to unload. Some goods need a machine first: drop the raw ingredient there, wait a moment and pick up the finished product at the exit.
  4. Customers walk to the stall of the thing they want, take one to three items and line up at the register. Stand at the register so the line moves. Every sale leaves coins in a pile beside it, and stepping on the pile collects them.
  5. Stand still on a dashed square to pay for it little by little. When it is fully paid, a new plot, stall, machine or helper pops up on the spot.
  6. Buy every square of a fair to complete it and open the next one. The earlier fair stays open, so you can always go back.

Controls

Computer

  • WASD or arrow keys: walk.
  • Picking, unloading, cooking, serving and paying happen automatically when you step on the right spot.
  • P or Esc: pause.
  • M: mute the sound.

Touch screen

  • Drag your finger anywhere on the screen to walk in that direction.
  • Everything else happens on its own when you stand on the spot.
  • The buttons on screen open the pause menu and the optional Turbo skates.

Tips

  • Open the crop plots that sit close to a stall first. Short walks mean more sales per minute.
  • Keep an eye on the register. When the line is long and nobody is serving, the sales stop, so stand there for a moment.
  • Hire a helper early. The toucan carries goods from a plot or machine to its stall, and the sloth works the register slowly but never stops.
  • Visit the Office to buy permanent upgrades: faster legs, a bigger stack, happier helpers and better tips. They stay for good.
  • Rush hour comes every few minutes: about half a minute of more customers and bigger tips. Fill the shelves before it starts.
  • Stock several stalls. A customer who finds an empty shelf for too long goes home, but nothing bad happens beyond the missed sale.
  • Helpers keep earning while you are away, though at a lower rate and only up to a couple of hours. Only stations that have a helper count.
  • Videos are always optional. If a golden VIP capybara or the Turbo skates offer one, you can say no thanks and keep playing.

About Capybazar

Capybazar is a game about building something small into something lively without any rush. You start by doing everything yourself: picking crops, carrying them, cooking and serving. Little by little you hire helpers, open new stalls and become the manager of a busy tropical fair. Nothing can be lost, there is always an upgrade a few coins away, and you can leave and come back whenever you like.

There are two fairs. The Lagoon Fair is bright and sunny, with corn that sells straight from the plot, sugarcane that becomes sugarcane juice and açaí that becomes a purple bowl. When you finish it, the Night Fair opens under paper lanterns, with coconut water, tapioca and chocolate brigadeiro. Four kinds of customers shop there: armadillos, tortoises, coatis and macaws, and the macaws tip the most.

Your progress is saved in your browser: the fairs you opened, your coins, your upgrades and your helpers. Watching a video is never needed to move forward. A golden VIP capybara or the Turbo skates may offer a short video in exchange for a bag of coins or a speed boost, and you can always decline. A short ad can also appear when you complete a fair. The game is colorful and gentle, and it is made for players of all ages.

Frequently asked questions

Is Capybazar free?

Yes. It is free to play, with nothing to download and no account to create.

Can I lose or fail?

No. There is no game over. A customer who waits too long for an empty shelf just leaves, and you lose that sale and nothing else.

Do I have to watch videos?

No. Videos only appear as optional offers, such as a bag of coins from a VIP customer, the Turbo skates, or doubling what your helpers earned while you were away. You can say no thanks every time and still play the whole game.

Does the game save my progress?

Yes. Your fairs, coins, upgrades and helpers are saved in your browser on this device. If you clear the site data, the progress is cleared too.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. You drag your finger to walk and everything else is automatic. The game keeps the same shape on every screen, so landscape mode gives you the biggest picture.
